"War of the Worlds " - pencil sketches

Wells give a very detailed description of the Martian fighting machines, but rendering them visually was a bit of a challenge. I wanted the mechanism to look credible, so I had to try and make sense of it on paper before I plunged in with the Wacom tablet.
